TOKYO, iNews.id – South Korean badminton name Heo Kwang-hee suddenly became a hot topic. Because he managed to ‘kill’ the dream of the world’s number one men’s singles Kento Momota to win the gold medal in Olympic Tokyo 2020.
Heo Kwang-hee won in straight games over Momota with a score of 21-15 and 21-19 on the last matchday of Group A. With that victory he was entitled to advance to the quarter-finals.
Currently Heo Kwang-hee is ranked 38th in the world. His career in the world of tepok bulu began in 2004. Thanks to his perseverance, the 25-year-old athlete became a member of the South Korean national team in 2012. He made his first international debut in 2013.
During his career, Heo has played in the mixed doubles number nine times, winning seven wins and two defeats. Then he also played in the men’s doubles sector by packing 16 matches, in which he won 11 and lost five.
Now he is focusing on the men’s singles sector, and has become one of South Korea’s mainstays. Heo managed to record 220 matches, collecting 133 wins and 87 losses.
