The Kellys of Benidorm take to the streets to claim a fair agreement for the next four years | Radio Alicante | Present

On the occasion of International Tourism Day, which is celebrated this Monday, the Kellys of Benidorm and La Marina Baixa have convened a rally tomorrow afternoon to denounce the high workloads they suffer and to demand a Fair Agreement in the hospitality sector .

In October, the new hospitality agreement for the next four years has to be negotiated between the unions of the Workers ‘Commissions and the UGT and the employers’ association HOSBEC, since the current one had to be extended last year due to the pandemic, and the chambermaids they ask “to be shielded and that their demands be addressed.”

Yolanda García, spokesperson for the Kellys in Benidorm, calls for an end to outsourcing, as has already been done, for example, in the agreement for Tenerife, Las Palmas or the Balearic Islands; a law for the prevention of occupational hazards and the obligation to comply with ergonomic psychosocial studies to curb high workloads.

This summer, on average, they have carried out between 23 and 25 rooms a day again, cleaning that since the pandemic broke out is much more exhaustive. Garcia assures that “they cannot continue with the current agreement” and recalls that the hotelier sells hotels with clean rooms thanks to the work they do.

The Kellys of Benidorm are also working on the creation of their own union since, they point out, that “where the occupational risk prevention law must be respected is within the hotels themselves.”

The concentration will take place tomorrow, Monday at 6:30 in the afternoon on Gambo street in Benidorm. They appeal to all hospitality workers, because they remember, the agreement for the next four years affects cooks, waiters, cleaners and all workers in the sector.
