While presenting “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” the 41-year-old single star shared some insights into her personal life, during an interview with guest Shannen Doherty, who is currently going through a divorce.
Clarkson talks about her condition
Clarkson said: “I think I need to do more work on myself in a relationship to make sure I’m taking care of myself at the same time as someone else.” Clarkson, who has been separated from her music manager Brandon Blackstock since March 2022, noted the difficulty of divorce. She said, “You thought you were going to spend forever with this person.” But she added proudly that she was still in the process of truly enjoying herself.
Doherty shares her experience with Clarkson
When Doherty, 52, talked about the comfort her dogs provide her, Clarkson agreed, but admitted that she had not previously allowed them to stay in her bed, but since she separated and became divorced, her dogs have taken control of her bed. She continued: “I think “She’s going to hate the next person who comes along.”
The beginning of Clarkson’s previous relationship
Clarkson and Blackstock married in 2012 and had two children during their marriage: their daughter River Rose, 9 years old, and their son Remington “Remy” Alexander, 7 years old. The “American Idol” star filed for divorce in 2020, and it was finalized two years later.
Clarkson shares her condition with fans
In September, the star spoke about her emotional state in a live Instagram chat with fans after her appearance on the Today Show. “Do I have a boyfriend? No! And I’m not looking for that.”
She added: “You know why? I love being single… I have two kids, two dogs, three rabbits, a mouse, multiple jobs – there’s a lot of stuff going on.”
Clarkson flashbacks
Clarkson continued: “I was crying a lot – as happens when sadness comes – and Henry would come and push his head under my arm and sit with me… and I was thinking: Is there a man like this around? Anyone?”
She also said: “I also love myself and I love spending time with myself. It is a really wonderful thing. It makes you feel strong!”
