The award in the published novels branch went to Muhammad Tarzi from Lebanon for the novel “Microphone Silencer,” Alaa Hlehel from Palestine for the novel “Seven Letters to Umm Kulhum,” and Youssef Hussein from Egypt for the novel “Pawns and Nishan .”
In the category of unpublished novels, Yassine Kani of Morocco won for the novel “AB Th,” Kouider Mimouni of Algeria won for the novel “El Camino de la Muerte,” and Lisa Khader of Syria won for the novel “The Wall of Scandal”. She also received the award. Iraqi God Jubaili won the prize in the category of unpublished historical novels for his novel “The Zanj Revolution.”
As for the category of unpublished boys’ novels, it was won by Abu Bakr Hamadi from Algeria for the novel “I Call Libra,” Alaa Al-Jaber from Iraq for the novel “Land of Oranges and Olives,” and Shaima Ali Gamal El – Din from Egypt for the novel “Beit Rima.”
The total number of entries in the tenth session of the Katara Prize for Arabic Fiction in its various branches reached 1,697 entries, including about 886 in the category of unpublished novels, 437 in the category of published novels , 177 in the unpublished boys’ novel category, and 91 in the critical studies category, as well as seven contributions in the published Qatari novel category.
The Katara Arabic Novel Festival will end on October 20, 2024, while the activities of the Katara Book Fair continue in its second edition, which will be held on the sidelines of the festival, with the participation of Qatari publishing houses together to major local libraries, and the participation of several cultural and research institutions, as well as 4 Kuwaiti publishing houses.
