The Kasselakis plan for the new SYRIZA – The ceiling of 3 terms – 2024-08-21 01:38:42

His political survival Stefanou Kasselakis it also goes through the radical changes in the party structure. In the leadership group, the opinion prevails that the internal party opposition, which is now based on the “87”, is waiting for the result of the elections in the PASoK to determine its next moves, which may also be an exit if – according to many “Casselist” – it is elected the Harry Doukas. There is still a long way to go until the second round of elections in the PASoK and Mr. Kasselakis wants to run the procedures so that the three-day 4-6 October constitutional conference approves the changes he wants.

The results of the consultation on his proposed changes are expected to be known around August 25. In the last Central Committee, Stefanos Kasselakis had spoken about ideas that are being enriched and to which others of the members have been added, although the core, it seems, is what he presented himself.

Apart from the proposals submitted, one issue is whether the provision of the statute for the terms of office in the Parliament, the European Parliament and the Central Committee will be activated. During the presidency Alexis Tsipras the following provision was approved and incorporated into the statute: There should be a limitation to three terms or twelve consecutive years in the Parliament and, respectively, in the Central Committee of the party in order to seamlessly ensure the renewal of the executive potential. A decision to activate this provision automatically brings some persons who are currently in the spotlight out of the political game, but such a thing is of high political risk at this stage.

Ally the base

Because Stefanos Kasselakis understands that he has the party bureaucracy against him, as they say in Koumoundourou, in essence he wants the base as an ally. That is why it is proposed to replace the Political Secretariat with the establishment of a Political Council of Members, which will consist of 21 members: the president, the secretary and the organizational coordinator of the party, the head of the KO (in case the president is not a member of parliament), the secretary and the director of the KO. Of particular importance is that it will be complemented by the rotating annual participation of 50% of the members of the KO and 50% of the coordinators of the departments. A proposal has also been submitted for the establishment of the National Assembly of Members (regular congress), which will be convened every three years and in which 10% of the members and members of the party will participate as delegates by lottery.

One of the proposals is the activation of the Municipal Member Committees while abolishing the Member Organizations, which will primarily be digital assemblies of members, tasked with: a) consultation of positions and program, b) internal referenda and primary elections.

Also, it is expected that the famous Prefectural Committees will be abolished with the activation of the Regional Member Committees. The Central Committee will apparently be replaced by the National Council of Members (NCM), which will consist of 201 members (in which 20 coordinators and 20 deputy coordinators of the Regional Member Committees will participate ex officio). The body will elect the secretary, the organizational coordinator and the organizational committee of the party, the Political Council of Members, as well as the coordinators and deputy coordinators of the departments.

Gradebook

A source of tension may also be the account of the parliamentary action of the deputies. He has been requested by St. Kasselakis to be sent by the end of August and is essentially an informal scorecard for the course of each MP at a time that gives a role and space to the party’s think tanks under the supervision of Diana Voutirakou.
