Tribute to Ukraine and Odessa
Benicio Del Toro also received the festival president’s award during the ceremony. “I couldn’t receive this award without telling you that what I made was a byproduct of people who believed in me,” he told the audience, continuing, “And even those who didn’t believe in me motivated me… .It is clear to me that we are celebrating our work here, but we are very close to a sovereign state where there is war. I know that this festival has shown solidarity with the Ukrainian people by organizing a section of the festival in Odessa. It is therefore an honor for me to have a prize in my hand from a festival that is willing to help.”

He responded: “This beautiful award is also proof that a person is getting old. I am comforted by the thought of Goethe: a beautiful youth is a play of nature, a beautiful old man is a work of art. I will add that I am touched and very happy.”
