The organizers of large cultural events are already clear whether the current situation will allow their event to be organized or whether it will be better to postpone it. What big events will we see this year and which will we have to wait another year for?

Festival Karlovy Vary 2021
This year’s Karlovy Vary International Film Festival will take place on August 20 – 28, 2021. The organizers decided to abandon the established date at the beginning of the summer holidays and the 55th Karlovy Vary Festival was postponed almost to the end. “We are convinced that the move will offer us a better opportunity to organize this cultural event so that its scope is as close as possible to the form to which our spectators and visitors are accustomed,” he said. festival president Jiří Bartoška. According to him, the next year should take place in the traditional time, ie from 1 to 9 July 2022.
The novelty of this year’s Vary will be the KVIFF.TV platform, which will offer its own exclusive information and journalistic content during the festival and gradually also bring an art program throughout the year. The first activity presented on the KVIFF.TV platform will be 16th Pragueshorts Film Festivalwhich is scheduled for June 2 – 27, 2021. The festival, which is a traditional sister event of the KV IFF, will take place in a combined form this year and will present the most interesting of the latest world productions of short films.
Werich on the Summer Stage of the Kampa Museum
Another cultural event that you can look forward to is the production, which mediates an unconventional and in many ways revealing view of Jan Werich’s life. Werich’s performances are prepared by the creators of the successful production Meda and the premiere is scheduled for June 14, 2021 on the Summer Stage of the Kampa Museum. Directed by Adéla Stodolová Laštovková, Werich Vojtěch Kotek will play at a younger age, as the years progress, he turns into a “wise clown” on stage actor Václav Kopta.

Summer Shakespeare Festival 2021
Get vaccinated by Shakespeare and enjoy the summer in the company of an English theatrical genius and the biggest Czech acting stars. Not only Prague, but also Brno, Ostrava and Bratislava will come to life again with Shakespeare. “We believe that we will finally get some breath in the summer and after a long fast we will fully enjoy the theater again. We are planning the festival to the same extent as our spectators are accustomed to from the pre-Eid era, ie including the new premiere, which we are already looking forward to, “said Libor Gross, artistic director of the Summer Shakespeare Festival.
This year will start on June 28 in the Royal Garden of Prague Castle premiere of the magical comedy Storm with a stellar cast. Viewers can look forward to actor David Prachar, Josef Polášek, Marek Daniel or Eliška Křenková. In mid-August, the Slovak premiere will feature a Slovak production of the greatest love tragedy of all time, Romeo and Júlia, in which Soňa Norisová, Sisa Sklovská, David Hartl and Mária Schumerová also performed. Music festivals are moving again
Organizing a large music festival does not go from week to week, which is why the organizers of each major event announce a shift for another year. One of the reasons is also the fact that foreign bands have postponed their tours and cannot be expected this year. He was the first to postpone the date of the event festival Colours of Ostrava. First, the event will take place in Dolní Vítkovice from 13 to 16 July 2022. The first confirmed star is american band Twenty One Pilots.
