Dressed in a white T-shirt and in silence, Andrew Abdullah got out of a heavily guarded car without police plates, handcuffed and with his face uncovered while the detectives guided him inside the barracks to take his fingerprints and the corresponding photograph.
Very upset, the Police Commissioner said that the justice system failed the victim.
“The death of Daniel Enriquez was every New Yorker’s worst nightmare, tragically it’s a scenario we see all too often,” said Commissioner Keechant L. Sewell.
In the same tone spoke the mayor of the city Eric Admas.
The mayor said that the shot to the heart that Daniel Enriquez received was also a shot to the heart of all New Yorkers.
“The gun industry puts more guns into criminal hands than we can take back,” Adams said.
In addition, he pointed out that antisocials believe that they can commit crimes and that there are no consequences.
According to authorities, suspect Andrew Abdullah had been arrested multiple times for weapons possession, vehicle theft and aggravated assault.
He has also been accused in the past of attempted murder and that he is a professional criminal who should not be on the streets.
“In the past he was arrested for possession of a weapon, attempted murder and 30 months in jail, it is not understood how someone who wanted to kill someone is given 3 months in jail,” said police spokesman Carlos Nieves.
According to police, the suspect approached the victim while they were riding the Q train and in cold blood discharged the firearm into Daniel’s chest, killing him.
The suspect will be charged with first degree murder and this time the authorities hope that he will never again walk free of being found guilty.
