The court on duty has decided to send to prison without bail the partner of Raquel BL, the woman whose lifeless body was found yesterday by Civil Guard agents in an isolated room of her house in the town of Villalbilla, in the Corredor del Henares of Madrid. The investigation is looking into whether it is a sexist crime and the first inquiries attribute to the accused a crime of homicide and another of inducement to suicide, although the classification may change as the case progresses. For the moment, in his judicial statement, the accused has denied having participated in the death of the victim.
Most sexist murders occur in towns with fewer than 100,000 inhabitants
The victim had been missing for 12 days and it was her boyfriend, who is now in preventive detention, who reported her disappearance. According to the version given at the time, Raquel BL, aged 54, had left home to meet her mother in Griñón, almost an hour away by car, and had not returned. The officers found that the woman had never met her mother and they focused on her boyfriend, who was arrested when he tried to flee from the officers.
Police found the woman’s body in a closed, soundproofed room, in the process of decomposition, in circumstances that led officers to suspect a possible suicide.
The Alcalá de Henares court on duty, which initially took charge of the case, has decided to send the man to prison without bail, exploring two possibilities: that he ended his life directly (homicide) or that she took her own life at the man’s request (inducing suicide). This classification may change as the investigating judge obtains more evidence on the case.
In his statement before court number six of Alcalá, the accused denied having had any involvement in the death of his partner.
