The Kurtuveni Regional Park is an unspoilt agricultural area where you can enjoy leisurely walks in the fresh air. The 17,000-hectare regional park is home to small and authentic villages, lush forests with long walking trails, as well as marshes and 30 lakes, including Lake Juodle.
An approximately four kilometer long trail with 12 stops stretches along Lake Juodles. The trail introduces the forest habitat, wetlands, as well as rare plant and animal species. In order to get to know the diversity of local nature as fully as possible, information boards are placed along the path. On the other hand, you should look for the most beautiful landscapes in the lookout towers.
A footbridge made of wooden boards that leads to the middle of the swamp makes the walk more exciting. This boardwalk looks especially beautiful in autumn, when it is surrounded on all sides by golden reeds. If in autumn you can enjoy the lake shrouded in fog and gilded reeds, then in summer Juodle Lake also invites lovers of active recreation. Here you can ride a bike, organize a small picnic, and swim, but the lake itself is decorated with beautiful water lilies.
The exact location of the nature trail can be viewed here. On the other hand, those who want to visit the regional park itself a little more can go on an excursion to the Kurtuvēni manor residence, where the visitor center operates. In the manor house, which was built and decorated according to the old Žemaish traditions, the Jautmaļķe nature center operates, where those interested are introduced to local nature and traditional crafts, informs “Visit Šiauliai”.
