The new major special exhibition Walt Disney’s The Jungle Book: Making a Masterpiece runs from June 23, 2022 to January 8, 2023 at The Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco. It was curated by celebrated animator and Disney legend Andreas Deja. The exhibition explores the complexities behind the creation of The Jungle Book in 1967. Visitors to the museum will experience the unique personalities and voice actors of each character and learn about the use of the most modern animation techniques and graphics of the time. Visitors don’t miss out on music either, because they can listen to the unforgettable soundtrack with songs by the Sherman Brothers and Terry Gilkyson.
The exhibition also charts the fallout from Walter Elias “Walt” Disney’s death during production – the animator and film producer was one of the most defining figures in the film industry of the 20th century – and highlights the film’s enduring popularity and influence decades after its release .
The successful Disney classic “The Jungle Book” tells of the adventures of little Mowgli, who grows up in the middle of the jungle. After the human cub is torn from its protective community by the powerful tiger Shir Khan, it can flee and from now on grows up with wolves. At his side is the fat bear Baloo, who teaches him the hunting calls of all animals, so that Mowgli doesn’t have to fear anyone in the jungle. Mowgli’s other friend is the panther Baghira, who has no enemies in the jungle.
Wildlife Exhibition
Concurrent with the Disney exhibit, the museum is also presenting its first charity exhibit, Creative Conservation: The Art of Endangered Animals, on view through October 16 this year at the Lower Lobby and Theater Gallery. Proceeds benefit wildlife sanctuaries.
