The Judiciary’s Right to Appoint a Judicial Guard: Gebran Bassil’s Call for Accountability and Reform in Lebanon

The head of the Strong Lebanon bloc, Representative Gebran Bassil, affirmed that “if none of the ruler’s deputies wants or is able to assume responsibility, then the judiciary has the right to appoint a judicial guard.”
In a speech delivered this evening, Saturday, from the youth camp for school students in Bshtodar-Batroun, in the presence of President Michel Aoun, Basil called for “not continuing with the same policies of Riad Salameh, and warned anyone who wants to continue with them, especially the governor’s deputies, against holding them responsible and pursuing them legally in the event of adopting the same illegal policies. He stressed that “in the event of their fear, let them step down or take responsibility for who among them is capable of confrontation and adopting a reform policy.”

Basil added, “We lived on the slogan of freedom, sovereignty, and independence, and today we are living this battle again because the battle of the Syrian displacement is existential and existential, and because with the displacement, Lebanon will not remain.”

He said, “We want to exercise our sovereignty over our land. Our land belongs to us and not to any foreigner. We say this with love and not in a vengeful language to everyone who tries to force us to flee, whether it is a state, the European Union or the Commission. facing this project.
