The Judiciary orders nine months of preventive detention against the mayor of La Rinconada accused of asking for a bribe to avoid closing a nightclub

The Judiciary issued nine months of preventive detention against Lelis Enrique Quispe Ramos, mayor of the Municipality of the town center of La Rinconada (Puno region), investigated for the alleged commission of the crime of passive bribery to the detriment of the State.

Quispe was arrested in flagrante delicto on April 9 during an operation carried out by a team of prosecutors specialized in crimes of corruption of officials in his home, where they found S/20,000.

The intervention occurred after the owner of the “Casa Verde” nightclub reported that the mayor demanded a large amount of money from her in exchange for not closing the establishment.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Lelis Enrique Quispe Ramos would have requested S/35,000 to avoid the closure of the nightclub located in the district of Ananea (Puno), province of San Antonio de Putina.
