The Judiciary ordered 36 months of preventive detention against former President Pedro Castillo Terrones and former Minister of Transport and Communications, Juan Silva, as well as appearance with restrictions against the former Minister of Housing, Geiner Alvarado.

Judge Juan Carlos Checkley Soria granted the request of the Prosecutor’s Office for the former official to continue in prison the process that is being followed for the alleged crimes of criminal organization and corruption committed in Petroperú and the Ministries of Transportation, as well as Housing, Construction and Sanitation.

According to the magistrate, in the case of Pedro Castillo, the measure is justified due to the complexity of the investigation against the former president. Likewise, he indicated that he does not have home roots, so there is a danger of flight.

This is the second preventive detention ordered against Castillo Terrones, who already had a previous one for a period of 18 months, ratified by the Permanent Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court. However, Judge Checkley considered that each precautionary measure imposed against the former president is independent.
