Mexico City. Given the presentation of an unconstitutionality action by the government of Guanajuato against the judicial reform, President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that “the election of judges, magistrates and ministers is going on. It is already a constitutional reform. Yesterday the initiative for secondary laws was sent to clarify the reform so that the electoral system has sufficient elements to carry out the election.”
Without elaborating much, in his conference he said that this means that there are no protections or analyzes from the eight ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation that they can put on the table to stop the implementation of these changes.
The election of judges, magistrates and ministers will be carried out because it was a popular will expressed at the polls. He acknowledged that there are some who do not like these modifications but “the people have already decided.”
Later, in response to a specific question, he said that the changes in the Judiciary will be prioritized in the first instance, but once they are finalized, the situation of the state prosecutor’s offices will be reviewed.
