This is the case in Marseille where, in the Old Port, more than a thousand enthusiasts gathered to celebrate this victory. Smoke bombs, horns and songs accompanied the night of joy for the Moroccan fans.

No serious accidents are to be deplored, other than two arrests for rodeo or dangerous driving behavior.

In Avignon, however, the celebrations did not take place entirely serenely.

While the victory celebration took place in a rather good-natured atmosphere, the situation gradually became tense. Traffic has been stopped. Shops were defaced and several garbage cans burned. Faced with his incidents and receiving some bullets, the police responded with dtear gas.

“The party was going well with 600 people in attendance“, explained Emmanuel Desjars, departmental director of public safety of the Vaucluse, to our journalist Frédérique Poret. “Then members of the crowd came into contact with the police and fired bullets. They started dismantling some of the street furniture. Which led us to restore order. But everything quickly calmed down“, he clarified.

In total, three people were arrested in the City of Popes. Two of them for throwing bullets and one for breaking into a shop buying and selling gold.
