The owners of the five-year-old dog said employees of the shipping company put their pet on another British Airways plane and were left confused and scared for hours before learning the truth.
After research and investigation, the shipping company that handled the transport of the dog “Bluebell” found that the latter had arrived at the airport of the Saudi capital, Riyadh, after which he was transferred back to Heathrow airport in London before being shipped to the United States in a journey that took about 60 hours with the terminals.
The dog’s owners, Madison and James Miller, said they thought the crisis was over with Bluebell’s safe arrival, but found the “suffering” had only just begun.
James, 27, explains that he and his wife can’t leave their dog, who was traumatized by what happened with her, causing them thousands of dollars in damage through bouts of anxiety and anger.
He added: “We simply can’t leave her alone. The first time we tried to leave her alone at home after the ordeal, she trashed her house in ten minutes.”
She continued, “The second time she was biting on a wooden door…and she was crying all the time, so we are afraid she will get hurt if we leave her alone at home. Parting from us has been very painful for her.”
The couple indicated that they hired a vet and behavior specialist to help treat her psychologically, explaining, “She takes anti-anxiety meds three times a day, but we don’t know if she’s going to get her hearts back to normal.”
“Instead of reuniting with her family, she endured three long-haul international flights locked up in a cage,” Madison said. “I was worried I’d never see her again.”
He added, “Bluebell cries day and night, and we paid the behavior specialist about three thousand dollars, and I’m afraid the cost of the material will go up, and we don’t know when this nightmare will end.”
