The Jonquière hospital emergency project is entering the design phase

The official announcement was made Wednesday by the MNA for Chicoutimi and Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Andrée Laforest, on behalf of her colleague.

According to the press release, this authorization will allow the engagement of professionals as well as the realization of the concept and preliminary plans and specifications. This step aims to specify the scope of the work to be undertaken, as well as the costs to be expected.

The expansion and redevelopment project consists of offering premises that meet standards, to resolve cramped conditions as well as to improve local links and the functional organization of the emergency and admission sectors, is it specified. It represents an addition of approximately 2225 m2.

The work will also make it possible to organize services which will take into account the arrival of the computerized patient record and the increase in the computerization of the service.

Andrée Laforest proud

The Jonquière hospital emergency expansion and redevelopment project is particularly close to my heart and I am very proud that our government is authorizing the design phase, said Andrée Laforest. The work aims in particular to redevelop the premises in a way better suited to the reality of current and future needs in my beautiful region.

Christian Dubé had provided this assurance in a written response to a question from the PQ member for Jonquière Sylvain Gaudreault.

At the end of April, the users’ committee of the Jonquière hospital asked the Legault government to speed up the reconstruction project for the emergency room at the hospital center.

Also at the beginning of June, Minister Dubé and Prime Minister François Legault had discussed together the modernization and expansion of certain hospitals in Quebec, including that of Chicoutimi.
