Both Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix won Oscars for their efforts as Joker, and these clown shoes are great to fill. But one who wanted the job was Barry Keoghan (HBO series) ChernobylThe Christoper Nolan movie Dunkirk). Unfortunately for the Irish actor, Matt Reeves chose to cut his scenes from The Batman – which nevertheless became long enough.

But tonight the director shares a scene where we get to see grunge Batman Robert Pattinson visit the iconic supervillain in Arkham Asylum to ask him about Riddler. The scene has one Clarice-Hannibal-vibe with Barry Keoghan with a face that has been partially destroyed and clownish by chemicals.
It’s clear that Batman (aka Vengeance) and the rather creepy Joker know each other from before.
– Maybe he’s a fan of yours? says Joker. – Or maybe he carries a grudge against you too. Maybe you’re the main course.
Joker laughs furiously and suggests that Batman actually thinks it’s okay for Riddler to take the rat on powerful, corrupt men in Gotham City.
– I think somewhere, deep down, you are just terrified, because you are not sure he is wrong…

Good potential? The Batman spin-off series, which was supposed to focus on the Gotham police, shifts focus to Arkham Asylum (aka Arkham State Hospital in the film). Maybe that means we get to see more of Barry as the Joker.

Barry Keoghan was not 100 percent removed The Batman.
We get a glimpse of him at the end with a desperate Riddler, who he eventually makes laugh. Officially, Barry is sneaky enough to be credited in the film as Unseen Arkham Prisoner.
Matt Reeves was unsure if he should include the final scene, but the test audience gave the best score to the version with Joker at the end.
– First I tested without the stage, and when I put it back, the score for the end went up. And I do not think it was just because people were happy to see [Joker]. That changed the response at the end of the film. To see that Gotham was still Gotham and that Batman does not really have a choice. He must continue to do what he has to do, Matt says Variety.
