The job market is doing too well

‘A competitiveness crisis in Belgium will be almost unavoidable’, warned FEB CEO Pieter Timmermans in a blog post on the eve of the national holiday. He warned that the ‘oh so pernicious wage price spiral is in full swing’. His colleagues from the Flemish employers’ organization Voka are also receiving dire tidings about the bad socio-economic situation. A ‘pension reform not worthy of the name’ is Voka’s harsh verdict on the pension agreement that the government reached this week. “Already 17 percent wage increase in three years,” reads another analysis on the organization’s website.
