Rare victory for the Pistons, who have at home the Pacers 97-89 in a match marked by the clumsiness of the two teams since Detroit wins by shooting at 42.5% including 8/28 from afar. The locals made the difference in the final act by limiting Indiana to 16 points. Jerami Grant finished with 19 points at 5/14, Cade Cunningham 16 points at 6/18 and Cory Joseph 16 points at 6/18.
The Hornets offer themselves the best team of the start of the season in the East, the Wizards, 97-87. They struggled offensively, limited to 36.7% despite 24 points at 5/11 at 3-point from Bradley Beal and 20 points at 9/12 from Daniel Gafford. The Hornets made the difference in a one-sided 3rd act, concluded with a score of 30-14. Terry Rozier finishes with 19 points and leads 6 other players to at least 10 units.
No problem for the Nets against Cleveland with a 10-point victory carried by quartet James Harden (27 points at 6/12, 10 rebounds, 7 assists), LaMarcus Aldridge (24 points at 11/19, 7 rebounds), Kevin Durant (23 points at 9/16, 4 rebounds, 3 assists) and Patty Mills (21 points at 6/12 away). This is an 8th victory in 10 games for the team, beaten by the Warriors in the previous game. Ricky Rubio scored 25 points to no avail and Darius Garland for the Cavs (9-7).
In New York, Madison Square Garden witnessed a third defeat in 4 games for his team, beaten by the Magic of Terrence Ross (19 points) Cole Anthony (15 points, 10 rebounds), Jalen Suggs (13 points) and Mo Bamba (12 points, 11 rebounds). The Floridians end a series of 3 defeats. Led 96-94 to 1’54, they passed a 10-2 to the Knicks to end the game. Evan Fournier (5 points at 2/6) and Kemba Walker (5 points at 2/7) were only used 20 minutes by Tom Thibodeau.
Things are much better for the Hawks who have a third consecutive success by dominating the Celtics on the score of 110-99 despite 34 points at 12/22 including 5/12 away from Jayson Tatum. The Hawks made their collective talk and returned 50.6% of their shots, despite a complicated last quarter (19 points). 4 players score at least 18 points: 20 points / 11 rebounds for John Collins, 18 points / 11 assists for Trae Young, 19 points for Cam Reddish and Kevin Huerter. Atlanta led almost from start to finish except for the first few minutes in the form of a crossover.
The Heat continues its good start to the season by dominating one of the worst teams, the Pelicans (113-98) for the return of Jimmy Butler. The latter signs a triple-double with 31 points at 10/18, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, supported by Tyler Herro (19 points). Miami made the difference in the second and third quarters by limiting NOLA to 36 points, while scoring 60.
Anthony Edwards planted 16 (including 4 3-pointers) of his 26 points in the final quarter and Karl-Anthony Towns added 22 points for Wolves, 10-point winners from the Kings. Pat Beverley compiled 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for a Minnesota team that remained on 8 losses in 9 games. Sacramento (20 turnovers) was held at 36.6%. De’Aaron Fox scored 28 points in vain for the Kings, defeated for the 5th time in 6 games.
Finally the Thunder offered Houston behind the 34 points at 14/22 of Lu Dort, in a series of 5 games at minimum 20 points. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander compiled 15 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists, Josh Giddey 14 points and 11 rebounds and OKC ended a 2-game losing streak. Rockets side, Jalen Green (21 points) could not prevent the 13th defeat of his team.
