The Jessa Hospital in Hasselt: A Dementia-Friendly Future

by Tom Kums

The Jessa hospital in Hasselt has developed a policy plan to become even more dementia-friendly in the future. All employees from all departments will be trained to deal with patients with dementia, there will be even more attention for informal caregivers and the Jessazikenuis that has yet to be built will also be furnished to suit patients with dementia. Today Jessa raised awareness among visitors by handing out forget-me-nots. That action is still necessary today, says Jean-Marie Blokken from Hasselt. His wife suffers from early-onset dementia.
