The Jerez taxi protection ordinance against VTC will be approved this month
Adelante Jerez has announced that in the next ordinary plenary session the ordinance that regulates Transport Vehicles with Driver (VTC) will be finalized.
After a process that has lasted practically a year, the leftist formation conditioned the approval of the 2020 budgets, among other measures, on the implementation of said regulations that will especially protect the taxi sector:
“The lack of regulation of VTCs left a highly regulated sector at a clear disadvantage, which has demonstrated the fulfillment of its public service function, such as the taxi.”
The regulations include, among other things, the prohibition for VTCs to park less than 150 meters from places where major events take place, the limitation of stopping or parking in the historic center as well as the mandatory pre-contracting 15 minutes in advance.
Jerez is one of the cities where illegal recruitment is the order of the day, fining several vehicles in the same day for failing to comply with transport regulations.
In this way, Ángel Cardiel, councilor of Adelante Jerez indicates:
“The idea is not to expel the VTCs from the city, but to introduce them into a regulatory framework to end the unfair competition that they maintain against other sectors.”
In the next ordinary plenary session scheduled for September 30, 2,020 and after a period of public exposure and allegations, the VTC ordinance will be ready for its final approval and implementation, which from Adelante Jerez will celebrate because it will mean that Jerez, as a city As a tourist destination, it will be at the forefront in Andalusia while we continue to wait for a regional law that will end inequalities in the urban land transport sector.
