The local government has extended for one month the contract that the Jerez City Council has with the law firm led by Ernest Sanguino to carry the municipal legal representation. This agreement is motivated by the fact that the bidding process for this service for the next four years has not yet been completed. The law firm that will provide this service is that of Martínez Escribano, but there are still some administrative procedures to ratify
This Monday the local government board met in an extraordinary session where, among other issues, it was approved a further extension of the contract that the City Council maintains with Sanguinos Abogados, in this case for a month. The cost will be about 7.058 eurostaxes included.
At the beginning of the month, the contracting table formed for this procedure determined that the offer with the best score of the 11 firms that submitted to the tender was that of Martínez Escribano Abogados y Economistas. This law firm, whose headquarters are in Seville, will assume the management of the legal representation of the City Council until 2025 for an amount that will be around 212,000 euros.
However, the award has yet to be ratified by a local government board as the final procedures required by the contracting regulations remain. For this reason, and to prevent this service from remaining empty until Martínez Escribano disembarked, a minor recruitment process has been carried out Well, the current contract, which had already been extended in 2020, ended this Wednesday.
The tender for this legal service was launched in early January; however, in February it had to be canceled and reconvened due to errors in the specifications that were brought to the attention of the Court of Contractual Resources of Andalusia by the Popular Party.
The Martínez Escribano law firm has proposed as improvements to its contract that it may make available to the City Council more lawyers than the six required in the specifications. In addition, it undertakes to reduce to eight hours response time to legal inquiries municipal services and waives the collection of legal costs to which the City Council is entitled (they were offered the possibility of receiving up to a maximum of 50% of these amounts).
