Jeep has finally unveiled the long-awaited Grand Wagoneer today. For now, it’s just a concept, but the production car shouldn’t look very different.
–
Models from the Wagoneer family have long been the absolute top of Jeep’s range. After all, their higher position was visible at first glance, which to this day is reminiscent of the very original Wagoneer, whose appearance is unmistakable.
The Wagoneer models, including the top Grand Wagoneer, were dropped from the carmaker’s range several decades ago, and it was only relatively recently that there was talk of their return. Terms such as luxury and space were often mentioned, but no one knew for sure what to expect. So far.

Impressive exterior
The carmaker has unveiled the technical concept of the Grand Wagoneer model, which at first glance looks like an almost finished car. In the future, technical changes are expected in the future, while in the field of design it could be only very minor corrections of shapes and details.
Compared to the concept, the production model could get, for example, significantly larger rear-view mirrors, probably smaller cast wheels and probably also a more moderate design of the light elements. However, let’s not get ahead of ourselves and let’s first look at the concept itself.
The dominant feature of the bow is the traditional radiator grille with seven holes, which is a characteristic feature of all Jeep models. But Wagoneer took this classic to a new level. The mask is lower, wider, connects the two headlights and in its upper part we find a light bar with a backlit Wagoneer inscription.

In the lowest part of the bumper, we can notice two towing eyes, which, however, will be more of a show with the Wagoneer. The concept is clearly aimed at the cream in the SUV segment, which is also indicated by the countless accessories in the chrome trim of brushed aluminum. Elsewhere, the plastic-coated extensions of the sills and the lower part of the bumpers were replaced by dark painting, which also reached the roof.
When viewed from the side, the huge dimensions of the concept stand out, which is only confirmed by the 24-inch wheels in the wheel arches and the rich glazing. In the lower part of the front door we can also notice the inscription Grand Wagoneer, behind which is a small American flag.
The rear of the car is again quite simple and its dominant element is again the lamps, which are together with the space for the registration plate placed in a frame lined with chrome decor. Again, there is a hint of a light line running across the entire stern. At the bottom of the rear bumper we can see a hint of a diffuser.

Luxurious and modern interior
The view into the cabin promises a truly enormous emphasis on spaciousness, comfort, modern equipment and an overall luxurious impression. If Jeep wanted to compete with premium matadors such as the Range Rover in terms of exterior design, then inside it would aim directly at the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and similar innovators.
After all, this is only evident from the number of screens. A digital instrument panel with a diagonal of 12.3 inches is prepared for the driver, in the middle of the dashboard there is a central infotainment with a 12.1 inch touch screen and a touch panel for adjusting the ventilation and seats can be found just below it. But that’s not the end of it.
There is a 10.25-inch screen in front of the front passenger, which the driver cannot see thanks to the use of a special filter. In addition, the two 10.1-inch screens are available to both rear seat passengers, who can also control other car functions via a smaller touch screen between their “captain’s” seats.

The entire infotainment system should run on the Uconnect 5 operating system, built on Android, which should be up to five times faster than its predecessors. However, the rich technological equipment is also seconded by the premium aesthetic concept of the interior.
The designers worked with materials such as onyx glass, raw aluminum, 3D wooden decors, etc. The entire ceiling is made of Dinamica material, premium carpets are made of Thrive fibers and on the seats, consoles, doors and dashboard we find sustainably made and premium processed PUR upholstery.
Other points of interest include the seven-seater configuration, which appears on the Wagoneer for the first time in history. There is also a McIntosh audio system with 23 speakers, ambient backlighting, a panoramic glass roof, a two-arm steering wheel and an interesting feature is the inscription EST.1963 on the side of the dashboard, which recalls the origin of the original Wagoneer model.

Sustainable strongman
Although the Jeep Grand Wagoneer is only a technical concept, the carmaker has already added a few details to the expected technology. The basis of the car should be the platform of the RAM 1500 pick-up, with which Wagoneer should share a new plug-in hybrid drive unit. It should offer enough torque, quick reactions and enough power for a fun ride on the road and off-road.
Despite its luxurious appearance and targeting the premium segment, Wagoneer should also offer quite solid features in off-road. The carmaker mentioned three all-wheel drive systems in combination with the renowned Quadra-Lift air suspension. The front independent suspension should then also offer decent driving characteristics on the road.

–
Other advantages of the car should include a high towing capacity, a range of powerful engines, a high level of comfort on board and, last but not least, plenty of space for the crew and luggage.
So far, we’ve only talked about the technical concept, but the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer production models are expected to begin production in the second quarter of next year at the FCA Warren plant in Michigan. And as we mentioned in the introduction, the concept should not be far from production models.
