the Jean-Rostand college closed due to problems with the building’s structure

The pupils of the Jean-Rostand establishment in Marquise, near Ambleteuse in the Pas-de-Calais, will stay at home this Monday. The county council decided to close it this Saturday for a period of one week. Problems have been identified in the building.

For the safety of students and staff

The reconstruction of the college with a metal structure is already planned and in this context a preliminary study was conducted. This demonstrated problems in the building structure. “The Department then immediately commissioned a further investigation into the structure of the building,” writes the provincial council in a press release.

Pending the results, the college will remain closed until Friday 18 November “in order to ensure the safety of students and staff as a priority”. The services of the department explain what they want “Remedy this situation as quickly as possible and organize pedagogical continuity”.
