Špotáková recorded a valid attempt only in the last series of the race, while Andrejczyková shone at the very beginning. The 25-year-old Polka improved her personal maximum and the national record from the 2016 Olympic Games by more than four meters and was 88 centimeters apart from the Czech national team’s world record. Besides Špotáková, only Kubánka Olisdeilys Menéndezová (71.70) threw further.
Discounter Marek Bárta took third place with 63.33. The 29-year-old thrower of the Prague Olympus threw only once in his career, lagging behind last year’s personal record by 107 cm. In Croatia, he was defeated only by the Hungarian János Huszák (65.35) and the Icelander Gudni Valur Gudnason, who threw Bárta by 33 centimeters.
“I have such mixed feelings. On the one hand, I’m glad that I managed to throw a nice attempt at least in the last series, but I’m a little sorry that it wasn’t a meter or two further,” Bárta told the federation website.
Hammer Kateřina Šafránková had the only valid attempt and with the performance of 67.13 she finished tenth in performance group A. The winning Polka Malwina Kopronová threw 72.82 and won the scalp of the more famous compatriot and world record holder Anita Wlodarczyk by 45 centimeters. The disc jockey Eliška Staňková took fourteenth place in the A with a performance of 55.64.
