After receiving an invitation to a football tournament in Latvia, in the city of Balduones, we thought for a long time and yet we decided to go and thus contribute to the events of the 100th anniversary of Lithuanian football, which we are conducting in the Yaki community. It’s a kind of tribute to football and community outreach.
FK “Jakai” team manager Gintautas Ramonas is happy that we managed to assemble a fairly capable men’s team, which tried with all its might to keep up with our FK “Jakai” women’s team: “We were alone in such an international tournament, where we had both men’s and women’s teams. A lot of work, but there is also something to brag about: the women became champions, and the men were among the best 16 teams of the tournament. Among 40 teams from Latvia, Poland and Lithuania, this is a very respectable achievement.”
Yaks love football. It’s wonderful when the community finds a common language with football lovers. This is how friendly relations are established. Tournament teams are already waiting for invitations to come as guests.
I sincerely congratulate the men’s and women’s teams on their excellent results and thank you for promoting the name of the Yak Community Center not only in Lithuania, but also abroad.
