The Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) Controversy: Political vs FIFA Assessment

FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Polemics about the quality of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) have become a hot topic of public discussion, especially now that it has spread to political issues.

This was stated by football observer Tommy Welly who considered that the JIS issue had more of a political element than talking about FIFA’s assessment.

“The polemic became lively because it was attracted to other scents with other elements which in my opinion are more political in nature,” said Tommy.

Bung Towel, as he is affectionately known, denied that it was said that the grass used by JIS uses hybrid grass that does not meet FIFA standards.

“Hybrid is 5 percent synthetic 95 percent natural grass, it is included in the FIFA category, because FIFA categorizes three grasses: one, 100 percent natural, two, hybrid grass, and three pure synthetic grass. Then is the Hybrid here only at JIS? No, the Alianz Arena Stadium, Bayern Munich, uses a hybrid, Spartak Moscow in Russia is a hybrid, so this meets the standards,” he explained.

Tommy assesses that the reason JIS uses hybrid grass is because it is more suitable according to its location which is near the coastal area and can last a long time.

“At JIS, the water is stagnant for no more than 10 seconds, the water drops to the bottom. This is also a special football stadium, there is no running track,” he concluded. (wartaeconomics)
