The IV challenge “100 solidarity blades against breast cancer” is held in Benidorm.

The Rowing Federation of the Valencian Community, together with SUMA Gestión Tributaria, is organizing, next Sunday, November 20 in Benidorm, the fourth day “100 paddles of solidarity against breast cancer”. It is a supportive and inclusive event in which sport becomes the best therapy for coexistence and awareness. A message of support through rowing for all those people who have experienced this situation. Previous fixtures this season have taken place in Jávea, Denia and Alicante.

The Club Náutico Benidorm acts as host and in front of its facilities, next to the popular Mirador which divides the two main beaches of the city, the regatta will take place. The show can be seen from various points such as the beach and bay of Mal Pas or the popular Balcón del Mediterráneo.

The event is divided into two sections. On the one hand, there is a rowing promotion activity, where participants have the opportunity to get on a boat and learn to row. The starting time is eight in the morning and lasts for a couple of hours. This is a free initiative and aimed at all public profiles, who must first register at an authorized stand. Experienced athletes will guide the beginners and teach them the basics and how this sport works.

The challenge, known as ‘100 shovels of solidarity’, is the other activity on Sunday morning in Benidorm. It takes place from 11am and will welcome people who have overcome breast cancer. Two categories differ: Brave, made up of eight participants who have overcome the disease and the helmsman; and Equals, made up of at least one person who has this condition, while the rest are athletes with a non-competitive annual license. The method of rowing is that of the Falucho/Llaüt Valencià, a type originating from the Levantine coast. The course is established between 350 and 400 meters, without turning.

This initiative is part of the solidarity aspect of the Rowing Federation of the Valencian Community, which provides all the facilities to help and facilitate the coexistence of people who have suffered from this disease. The practice of sport leads to important improvements in health, such as growth in physical condition and an increase in well-being, which translate into a better quality of life. The mood point is also reinforced, since depressive symptoms can occur in this type of context. The goal is to improve these aspects through a day of coexistence and company that has rowing as the protagonist.
