The electric car market does not seem to be able to take off in Italy, and now let’s try to understand the reasons. Meanwhile, trouble arises.
The technology of the electric car is what the big car manufacturers have invested in. In fact, in a few years it will no longer be possible to produce cars with internal combustion engines, at least in Europe. In fact, it has been decided for a few weeks that from 2035 onwards it will only be possible to build cars that take advantage of new technologies, without relying on a petrol or diesel engine.
A small exception was made for supercars, which will be able to continue producing cars with an internal combustion engine until 2040, but little changes. The powerful of the planet have already decided that the electric car will be the main means of locomotion in the coming years, but the thing does not seem to excite at all the clientele.
Electric car, that’s why citizens don’t like it
Some large automotive groups, such as Stellantis, have already invested everything in the electric car, demanding that all brands that are part of it abandon the internal combustion engine since 2027. Homes such as Fiat ed Alfa Romeo they are trying to adapt as quickly as possible, and the next SUV of the Biscione house will be full electric, as well as the Panda that the Turin house will put on the market as early as next year.
What emerged from a research by theFindomestic Observatory, where a survey was carried out on Italians on the use of electricity for everyday cars. From the research, it seems that four out of ten Italians are of the opinion that electric is not, for the moment, real solutions against pollution.
In fact, according to the statistics, Italian citizens believe that they will become completely green when the batteries are produced and powered with renewable energies. Still on the battery front, there is still another not insignificant problem relating to their disposal. Among the serious problems is also the cost of the same once they reach the end of their life, given the crazy costs expected for their replacement. On some models it even reaches ten thousand euros.
For one in four Italians, another problem persists, relating to the place in which to recharge the electric car. In fact, in Italy, there is still a lot of work to be done as regards the infrastructures relating to new technologies, which certainly does not help citizens in choosing this great novelty.
A comment on the questionnaire came from Claudio BardazziHead of the Observatory Findomestic who took care of all this: “The automotive market is, especially nowadays, influenced by many and different factors that affect the propensity to buy from citizens, especially those who are interested in buying a car“.
“The biggest problem, among the many that are faced in this period, lies in the delay in deliveries of newly registered vehicles and that motorists await impatiently after purchasing and ordering. As we have been able to learn from our in-depth analysis, it is estimated that 43% of buyers are more likely to think about buying other models, for example used, rather than waiting at least six months for a new car. 13% choose second-hand, while 17% even decide to cancel the purchase or postpone it for better times. At the moment, only 27% of the people we surveyed would be available to buy a car“.
An alarm had even raised it some time ago Akio Toyodathe boss of the Toyotathe first car manufacturer that had invested in the hybrid, but never gave too much credit to the electric: “If the entire car park in Japan were made up of electric cars, the country’s energy grid would collapse, we would have to face a gigantic blackout of unprecedented proportions.“.
“I wonder one thing: do all the politicians who talk about killing the petrol car in favor of the electric, have any idea what the consequences of such choices would be? The mass production of electric cars leads to a huge increase in carbon dioxide, and if a law were to pass that would ban the internal combustion engine in Japan, we would put our entire system in serious difficulty. economic“.
The boss of the Toyota he then spoke of a real alarm in the event that the electric car should become the only means of locomotion, also with regard to workplaces: “Millions of jobs would be lost, we are certainly not ready for a transition of this type and no one will ever be. We are taking a big risk with these thoughts on the electric, we cannot make claims of omnipotence“.
Surely, this is not a too comfortable situation for new technologies, which are already struggling to get started. The global crisis, the wars and the pandemic make everything more complex, and the delays in deliveries and the car market, which has been practically in the red for over a year, do the rest. For now, the electric seems to be something far from the will and mentality of the Italians, who prefer to take full advantage of the internal combustion engine and more traditional technologies. We will see if things will change in the future or not.
