An important initiative for health and well-being was born in Peschiera del Garda: the opening of the Italian Institute of Laughter Yoga has been announced. This announcement took place during the IV Italian Congress dedicated to the practice, held at the Parc Hotel from 12 October. The institute aims to spread Laughter Yoga in a scientific and professional way, aiming to improve the quality of life through laughter and happiness.
Conference for the 30 Years of Laughter Yoga
Scheduled from 23 to 26 October 2025, the congress will celebrate thirty years since the birth of Laughter Yoga, with the participation of the Indian founders Madan Kataria and his wife Madhuri. This event not only marks an important milestone, but also represents an opportunity to delve deeper into the social and therapeutic applications of this innovative practice.
Mission of the Institute
The main objective of the Institute is to promote a greater diffusion of Laughter Yoga in Italy and around the world. Among its purposes are:
- Creation of a national register of specialized trainers.
- Mapping of Laughter Clubs active in the area.
- Offer of continuous training and certified updates for operators.
- Support for scientific research on the benefits related to the practice.
Lara Lucaccioni and Matteo Ficara will lead the institute, supported by a team experienced in the sector. The mission is to provide practical tools to those who wish to integrate this form of therapy into their daily lives.
Scientific Recognition
Laughter Yoga was developed in 1995 and is based on the idea that everyone can laugh intentionally, bringing numerous benefits to individual and collective mental health. Beyond 700 scientific studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of this practice in variable contexts such as companies, schools and social and healthcare facilities. Currently there are over 500 Laughter Club active in Italy.
Congress success
The IV Italian Congress was a notable success with approximately 200 participantsamong enthusiasts and professionals in the sector. The program included over 30 training eventsincluding talks, workshops and playful moments aimed at promoting laughter as a therapeutic tool. The founders’ virtual interventions aroused particular interest, underlining the growing importance of Laughter Yoga in medical care.
Who are the Founders
Lara Lucaccioni is recognized as one of the main Italian trainers in the field of Laughter Yoga and was appointed Ambassador of Laughter by Doctor Madan Kataria himself. Matteo Ficara stands out as an emerging philosopher and Master Trainer, both committed to spreading the principles of well-being through innovative practices.
Madan Kataria started this movement in 1995 with just five people in India; today the practice has expanded globally, gaining attention in major international newspapers. His expertise includes online sessions that attract participants from all over the world.
