In an interview with The New York Times, Shakhtar CEO Sergei Palkin said that one of the Italian clubs is asking FIFA to punish the Donetsk club for not transferring.
Palkin said the Serie A player didn’t agree to a last-minute move to Shakhtar last winter, as a result the Pitmen were forced to refuse to sign and pay $9 million. Now the Italians have claims against Shakhtar, so they are asking FIFA to punish the Ukrainian team.
We add that the footballer was ultimately unable to find a new team, despite the presence of negotiations. Palkin did not name the specific club in question, nor did he reveal the player’s name.
