The Italian carrier, which was to fly for Exed to Čedok, ceased operations. He was replaced by LOT in Prague

The carrier cites the financial problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic as the reason for the end.

The day after the Čedok travel agency unexpectedly changed the operator of direct long-haul flights to exotic destinations at the last minute, it is already clear why this happened.

Blue Panorama Airlines, which has recently started a business under the Luke Air brand, has announced the suspension of all flights. It follows from the information on website of the Italian Civil Aviation Authority ENAC.

This is due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. The carrier was not helped by state aid either. The group employs 620 people, has a fleet of ten Boeing 737s and two A330-200s. According to Italian media, all passengers managed to get home on time.

Čedok suspended the cooperation with Luke Air the day after the first flight with the carrier to the Dominican Republic. “Together with our shareholder, the Polish travel agency Itaka, we immediately responded to information about the possible risk of suspension of Luke Air’s operations and agreed to cooperate with LOT Polish Airlines. With this step, we have ensured that our customers have not been affected by this situation and have not endangered charter flights. “ said Čedok spokeswoman Kateřina Pavlíková.

According to her, nothing changes for the clients of the travel agency. “We believe that, on the contrary, they will appreciate not only the more modern and quieter type of aircraft, but also the expanded range of services on board. In addition, thanks to the configuration of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, we are adding more business class seats for sale, which are of great interest, and we can now also offer premium economy class seats. ” added Pavlíková. LOT has two versions of the dreamliner: 787-8 and 787-9, and deployed the smaller of them to Prague. 787-8 flies in the version for 252 passengers (18 business, 21 premium economy, 213 economic). The longer version is for 294 passengers: 249 in economy class, 21 in premium economy and 24 in business class.

This year, Čedok is planning flights to the Dominican Republic, Zanzibar and the Maldives, and a few weeks ago it announced connections to Mexico and Kenya. Čedok will fly to each destination once a week.
