The Istanbul Stock Exchange has resumed its trading after a 5-day suspension following the devastating Kahramanmaras earthquakes in southern Turkey, which affected 10 states and left more than 35,000 dead.
The stock exchange opened the trading of the morning session, yesterday (Wednesday), with a significant increase in its index (Best), which amounted to about 5.86 percent, and the index scored 4.769 points at the beginning of trading.
The index had declined in trading last Tuesday, the day after the two earthquakes, by 8.62 percent, and closed at 4,505 points. The index of banks rose in trading (Wednesday) by 6.53 per cent, and the index of holding companies by 5.06 per cent.
Among the sector indices, the petrochemical and plastic sector recorded the highest gains by 7.64 percent, while the sports sector recorded the highest losses by 3.76 percent.
