The Istanbul Convention would protect women from their abusers – 2024-08-05 19:42:09

/ world today news/ It amazes me that lawyers in management positions fervently convince us that the next Istanbul Convention will protect women from their abusers.

Since 1950, a number of documents concerning violence against women and its prevention have been adopted.

Some of these documents are:

– The Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (ETS No. 5, 1950) and its protocols.
– Recommendations of the Committee of Ministers to the member states of the Council of Europe.
– Recommendation Rec(2002)5 on the protection of women against violence.
– The UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination under
on Women (CRC, 1979) and its Optional Protocol (1999), as well as the CRC Committee’s General Recommendation No. 19 on violence against women.

And last but not least, the basic law in Bulgaria – the Constitution.

Art. 6.
(1) All people are born free and equal in dignity and rights.
(2) All citizens are equal before the law. No restrictions on rights or privileges based on race, nationality, ethnicity, gender, origin, religion, education, beliefs, political affiliation, personal and social status, or property status are allowed.
As someone who was briefly involved in politics I will say that reading between the lines in such documents shows the main idea.

And the worst thing is when this idea can confuse and endanger our children!
