FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — During the 1998 reform period, Prabowo Subianto, who at that time served as Commander of the Army Strategic Reserve Command (Kostrad), was involved in the issue of kidnapping student activists and pro-democracy figures.
Several parties have linked Prabowo to a series of controversial actions, which have become the focus of political debate, especially in the context of the 2024 presidential election.
In a video uploaded to the Instagram account @komenpol.id, Muhammad Ainun Nadjib or commonly known as Cak Nun tells the situation Prabowo is facing.
Cak Nun said that at that time there were several units given the task of anticipating activist groups.
“So there were several units that were ordered to anticipate activist groups in 1997,” said the cultural activist figure in the one-minute video released on Saturday (16/12/2023).
Unfortunately for Prabowo, when he kidnapped activists, his unit did not destroy the activists.
However, he said, the activists who were kidnapped by Prabowo’s unit disappeared without their whereabouts being known.
“Unfortunately, Prabowo was kidnapped but not destroyed. He continued to be a missing person,” he said.
He added that those kidnapped by Prabowo’s unit at that time were returned to the community. Some of those who did not disappear joined the Gerindra Party with Prabowo.
Names who joined Prabowo’s axis include Pius Lustrilanang and Haryanto Taslam.
“Those who were kidnapped by Prabowo’s troops were returned to the community, that’s why they joined Gerindra. They were indeed kidnapped, but they were not given permission,” he said.
