Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett visited Moscow today and talked with Russian President Vladimir Putin, world agencies reported.
This is the first visit of a foreign leader to Russia since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, BTA reported.
So far, Bennett has not joined people from international critics of the Russian offensive, but has repeatedly pointed out the solid ties that connect Israel with Moscow and Kyiv, notes AFP. Ukraine has asked Bennett to play the role of mediator in the conflict, Reuters recalls.
Bennett’s conversation with Putin lasted several hours. The two discussed various aspects of the situation in Ukraine, the Kremlin was quoted as saying by TASS.
After the conversation, Bennett left for Germany, where he will meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, AFP reported.
