“The Israeli delegation will be subject to reinforced security by law enforcement throughout its stay on national territory. Israeli athletes are – as we know of course since the Munich Games, but we have also seen recently – particularly targeted by attacks,” acting Interior Minister Gérard Darmanin told France 2 radio.

The member of the Executive was referring to the attack carried out in 1972 by Palestinian militants against the Israeli team at the Munich Games, in which 11 members of the Olympic delegation died.
Israel Hayom has reported that Israeli judoka Peter Paltchik and swimmer Meiron Cheruti have received threatening messages ahead of the Paris Games, which open on Friday. A security detail of 45,000 personnel will be in place for the ceremony and the rest of the sporting event.
With 25 competition venues in the Paris region and 13 in the capital alone, organisers have launched Opération Sentinelle to form “protective bubbles” around all Olympic sites. Via Graphic News
