She reminds this year’s festival-goers to drink enough water and dress in white clothes to withstand the heat. According to the organizer, 20,000 people are expected to visit Tøyenparken each festival day this week.
Brilliant weather is also forecast for Friday and Saturday, says Moxnes.
– It will be 27-28 degrees on Friday as well. It will cloud a bit more on Saturday, but it will still be 25-26 degrees.
By all accounts, Thursday will be the hottest day in Oslo so far in August. On Wednesday, the temperature was 26.3 degrees, but according to Moxnes, we will be even higher on Thursday. It could also be the hottest summer day since July 20, when the thermometer showed 27.7 degrees in Oslo.
– We’ll see if we get over it, but it will be in the same area, is the meteorologist’s message.

Press manager for the Øya Festival, Jonas Prangerød, says that different messages go out to the audience on big screens between the concerts, with messages to, among other things, remember to drink water and take care of each other.
– When it gets hot, the frequency of this type of message increases, he says to Dagbladet.
The festival has also increased the number of water stations in the last 24 hours.
– Yesterday we put out even more water stations so it will be easier for people to get water, says Prangerød, and continues:
– This year we have also allowed the public to bring in water bottles as long as they are empty when entering the festival area.
This is a measure that is new this year, explains the press manager.
– We want to make it as easy as possible for people to carry water around the festival grounds, without them having to look for something to put the water in.
The festival also has volunteers who show the way to stations where you can fill up with water, and who inform and provide help to the extent necessary.
– What is your advice to people going to the Island?
– Apply sunscreen, drink water and take care of yourself and your friends in the heat.
Prangerød says that so far there have been no reports of severe dehydration as a result of the heat.
100,000 in total
This year’s Øyafestival kicked off in Tøyenparken earlier this week. The rock band Brenn had the honor of opening the festival, which is the first since 2019. The festival in 2020 and 2021 was, as is known, canceled due to the pandemic.
That’s why many people are probably happy that music is finally back on Oslo’s east side, with well-known names such as Gorillaz, Nick Cave, Florence + The Machine, Aurora, Girl In Red, First Aid Kit and Sondre Lerche on the concert programme.
A total of close to 100,000 unique visitors are expected during this year’s festival, according to the organiser.
