The Islamic Development Bank and Masen launch their new South-South cooperation program

Projet solaire Noor Midelt I : Centrale hybride au Maroc, MASEN (Moroccan Agency For Sustainable Energy)

In the wake of the memorandum of understanding signed between Masen and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), these partners organized a workshop in Morocco, at the Noor Ouarzazate Complex. This event marked the launch of the RECPA program (Renewable Energy Cooperation program to Power Africa), with the presence of representatives from 11 African countries and many renowned technical partners.

This program, focused on South-South “Reverse Linkage” cooperation, aims to support the development of renewable energies in African IDB member countries. It takes advantage of the financial support of the IDB, the expertise of Masen, the mobilization of the private sector, and the involvement of African partners such as the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE), the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) of Morocco, the National Electricity Company of Senegal (SENELEC), and the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG).

The meeting was also an opportunity to catalyze discussions on technical, legal, and financial know-how, as well as experiences in implementing renewable energy projects in Africa. Efforts were continued to upgrade the project pipeline and initiate the process of selecting projects to benefit from this program.
