The Irony of Zoom’s Face-to-Face Work Policy: Exploring the Benefits and Contradictions

The management of Zoom, a video dating platform, ironically believes in face-to-face work: why?

Zoom CEO Eric Yuan said working remotely hurts the ability to “come up with great ideas” in a 100% home mode.

He asks all employees who live within a 50-mile radius to report to the office at least two days a week.

At the microphone of Patrick Lagacé, Pierre-Yves McSween comments on this way of seeing teleworking.

“He just ironically said that the business model you’re selling is okay, but not full time. It’s as if Mark Zuckerberg said: “Listen, the Facebook gang is beautiful, but social networks in the office, we’re going to cut that to two days”. It’s a bit the same thing. And the irony , that’s it.”
