JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi has been named a suspect from the results of the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) hand arrest operation, Thursday (6/1/2022).

Ironically, the man who is familiarly called Pepen is a mayor who has many awards.

Quoted from the official website of the Bekasi City Government, Pepen’s leadership in 2019 brought the Bekasi City Government to win 24 awards, both from the central government, the West Java Provincial Government, and the private sector.

Among them is the award for the category of child-friendly health services from the Governor of West Java.

Pepen also received the 2019 BUMD Top Trustees award from Top Bussines Magazine.

The following year, 2020, Pepen again won the BUMD Top Trustees award from the Ministry of SOEs. In the same year, Pepen led the Bekasi City Government to receive 17 awards.

The Bekasi City Government has also several times won an unqualified opinion (WTP) on local government financial reports (LKPD) from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), including WTP on LKPD in 2018 and 2019.

In 2017, the National Commission for Human Rights (HAM) also awarded a charter to the politician from the Golkar Party. Pepen is considered a figure who plays an important role with a high commitment to protecting and guaranteeing the right to freedom of religion and belief in Bekasi City.
