The Irony of a Jain Singer’s TikTok Success: When an Old Track Goes Viral Instead of the Latest Release

Some coincidences are sometimes very ironic, the Jain singer is currently paying the price. The artist recently released his latest opus The Fool, which draws its inspiration in particular from the Tarot de Marseille (she also told us about it here). This is the perfect timing, since she is currently at the top of the TikTok trends. The problem is that it is not for a track from the said last opus, but for the eternal banger that needs no introduction, “Makeba”, released in… 2015.

In many countries, sound has repop like a devil out of his box and even entitled to his own choreography, ultimate consecration for a bop in our era. Just by typing “Makeba” in the TikTok search bar, more than 700,000 videos appear. So obviously, we suspect that not all of them can date and depend on the new trend, and that some were probably already using sound before. Even scrolling for a long time, we only see videos released in June, where users move in rhythm to the chorus. Note that the dance in question is very simple to reproduce (even simplistic), which certainly contributes to the new popularity of the tube.

The main person concerned is aware of the trend and even made a reaction video on one of the TikToks as an answer. She captioned it: “When your 2015 track goes viral on TikTok in multiple countries…but you just released The Fool!” It may be nerd, as a coincidence, the singer seems to take it with a grain of salt. And then, advertising remains advertising, right?
