The “Iron Spear 2022” military exercise led by the expanded NATO presence in Latvia will be held at the Ādaži training ground from November 14 to 16, where 34 teams from 13 NATO member states will strengthen mobility, cooperation and the compatibility of the armed forces units in a demonstration of firepower.
The objective of the exercise is the integration of NATO member states in the performance of tasks and the demonstration of the unity of NATO’s Extended Presence Battle Groups, the Ground Forces Mechanized Infantry Brigade informed.
The “Iron Spear 2022” exercise will involve crews of tanks and infantry fighting vehicles from the NATO Extended Presence Battle Group in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Poland, as well as the Ground Forces Mechanized Infantry Brigade. The teams will be represented by representatives of the armed forces of the USA, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Canada, Latvia, Great Britain, Norway, Poland, Slovakia and Spain.
On November 15, however, a show of strength will take place both in daylight and in the dark.
The national armed forces are calling for a comprehensive approach to the ongoing military exercises in Latvia aimed at strengthening the country’s national defense and NATO’s collective security.
