Just before Iron Man flicks villain Thanos into the afterlife, he says the iconic words he used at the end of the first Iron Man film presented to the world: “I’m Iron Man.” Im Hypocondriactor Podcast Downey Jr. spills the beans and reveals alternative versions of this scene.

Robert Downey Jr. on Iron Man’s alternate ending

Clearly in a mood to talk, Downey Jr. embellishes his anecdote with two examples:

The correct answer is ‘I’m Iron Man’, but I had a lot of alternate lines of dialogue that I want to share briefly. Let me think. In between swearing and bad puns we can only be glad that it ended up being the “I’m Iron Man”line made it into the final version of the film. It would have been a shame if Marvel sacrificed the final Iron Man moment for a cheap gag. So remains a heroic and touching scene.

Not only Downey Jr. looks back on his Marvel time

Downey Jr. isn’t the only Avengers star to look back on a career in the Marvel Cinematic Universe these days. Black Widow actress Scarlett Johansson also recalled her Marvel debut in a recent interview and talked about how Iron Man 2 turned her life upside down.
