The Iris environmental prize will be awarded again in 2021

LINZ. Every two years the city of Linz awards the Iris Environment Prize. Until April 19th, activities and projects that improve the environment and quality of life can be submitted.

The prerequisite for participation is that it is a Linz project. This means that it was either realized by someone from Linz or that the city benefits. The IRIS21 is awarded in three categories. For individuals, associations, organizations and initiatives there is a main prize of 2,500 euros and two recognition prizes of 500 euros each. In addition, the winner will be awarded the IRIS statue designed by the Linz artist Helmuth Gsöllpointner. There is also a category for schoolchildren, children and young people, in which three main prizes of 800 euros each and recognition prizes are planned. The categories of companies and institutions are completed, with the best three projects receiving certificates.
“Impressive variety”

“The Linz environmental award IRIS has become a true institution in matters of environmental, climate and nature protection. The diversity and wealth of ideas of the submissions are particularly impressive every time – from the inner-city garden biotope to innovative business ideas from the technology sector. Every two years, the competition shows impressively how diverse you can contribute to a city that is worth living in, ”says Linz City Councilor Eva Schobesberger (Greens). There are no limits to the choice of topics as long as there is a reference to the environment and climate. The submission deadline is April 19, 2021. An independent jury will then evaluate all submissions and determine who will receive an award. The award ceremony is planned for June 22nd in the town hall of the old town hall.
