The Iranian film (The Sparrow’s Song) in Canadian Damascus – Al-Banna Newspaper

The Casa del Cinema presented the Iranian film (The Song of the Sparrow) as part of its regular screenings at the Al-Kindi cinema in Damascus.
The feature film, produced in 2008, tells in about 95 minutes the daily life with its overwhelming details of a poor man from the Iranian countryside, exposed to a problem in his work on an ostrich farm due to the escape of one of the ostriches, which leads to his expulsion to begin his journey to earn a living in the capital.
The events continue and the hero of the film, Karim, throws each other and subjects him to different tests and worlds that he did not know before in order to ensure the livelihood of his children and to be able to buy a new earphone for his mute daughter, which causes him to break one leg and sit at home.
The film, which won the Best Actor award at the Berlin Film Festival, brought many details of life closer, bringing them closer to the documentary, giving the picture a large space to reflect many feelings and events, and drawing the viewer into the atmosphere that the film has The hero and his family live between grief and hope in an interesting sequence, which moves between sadness and joy, so that the tape ends with an optimistic look with the joyful news of the return of the escaped ostrich to the farm.
The film is written by Majid Kashan Mahran, directed by Majid Majidi, starring Reza Naji, Maryam Akbari, Shabnam Akhali, Hamid Aghazi, Neshat Nazari, and the soundtrack is written by Hossein Alizadeh.
The show was followed by a session of dialogue and discussion on the film, which allowed to deepen the details of the scenes, shots and dramatic plot of the tape for the benefit of scholars, enthusiasts and lovers of cinema who attended the show.
Interestingly, the House of Cinema is a project launched by the General Cinema Organization two years ago, under the direction of directors Firas Muhammad and Ramy Nidal, and its screenings are bi-monthly at Al-Kindi Cinema – Damascus.
