One of the best-known Iranian actresses, Taraneh Alidoosti, once again spoke about the rights of women in her country with a photo without a veil. Alidoosti posted a photo of her long dark hair on Instagram.
Alidoosti in the photo is holding a protest sign in Kurdish that reads “Women. Live. Freedom”. A few days ago, Alidoosti stated on Instagram that she will not leave Iran and is willing to “pay a price” to defend her rights. Several people in the Iranian film industry have already been arrested for their open support of the protests.
38-year-old Alidoosti is best known for her roles in The Salesman, Fireworks Wednesday, The Client and About Elly. She also plays the lead role in this year’s Leila’s Brothers, which was selected for a Palme d’Or at Cannes.
In Iran, since the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini on September 16, demonstrations have been held across the country for women’s rights, freedom and human rights. Amini was arrested by the religious police because, according to the deputy team, she was not dressed according to strict Islamic standards.
