Although Apple has already asked for the price of its phones and typically sold its devices of the same size and capabilities more expensive than its competitors, starting this fall those who want to buy a new Apple phone will probably have to dig deeper into their pockets than before. The Cupertino company will raise its prices with the presentation of the iPhone 14 – that is, it will ask for a significantly higher amount of money than usual for its phones.
At least this is what he claims referring to industry sources, Ming-Chi Kuo, who is considered to be an expert in Apple matters, says that Apple is preparing to present some iPhone 14 models at a price that is about 15% higher than the price of their previous generation counterparts that year. According to the news, the price increase will only affect the Pro models for the time being, but we wouldn’t take it for granted that there won’t be any among the “plain” iPhone 14s that will cost more than before.
In recent years, Apple has traditionally presented its newer models with the same size storage at the same price as it did the year before. However, the current price increase will mean that there will be a significant difference between the price of, say, last year’s 128 GB iPhone 13 Pro and this year’s 128 GB iPhone 14 Pro.
Of course, the inflationary effects are primarily behind the increase in price, although it cannot be ruled out that Apple will pack more memory or storage in the iPhone 14 than before, which could also push the price up a bit. In any case, as a result of these, the price of the iPhone 14 Pro models equipped with the smallest storage may rise well above 1,000 dollars or 1,100-1,200 euros.
Of course, Hungarians can count on even higher prices due to the brutal depreciation of the forint in the past six months, and they will see numbers on the price tag of new Apple phones that have increased by up to 30% or even more than last year.
